ContextThe firm of William Bromley, stonemason of High Hill, Keswick, was first established in the 19th century by John Bromley (born 1833) and his brother Joseph Bromley (1840-1907). On the death of Joseph Bromley, the business was carried on by his nephew, William Bromley (1862-1935), eldest son of John. After his death in 1935 the business was acquired by W and J Creighton who continued to trade under the name of William Bromley.
