ContextGeoffrey Sheard began work for Goodyear Tyres in the early 1950s and became involved in advertising for the company. At the age of c. 30 he left Goodyear and took an apprenticeship with Turners Photographers of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Later he worked as a freelance photographer and undertook a great deal of work for Border TV and the TV Times. He won a national competition during the 1970s with his series of images of the Glasgow slums, entitled 'Who Cares?'
