Sketches of the site of the excavation of Ambleside Roman Fort which was carried out by Robin G Collingwood, circa 1913-1915. Many sketches appear to be mock-ups for illustrations for Mr Collingwood's article on the dig which appears in the Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society.

Letter from Richard S Ferguson, editor of Transactions of CWAAS, Lowther Street, Carlisle, to [Mr J T ] Micklethwaite,[member of CWAAS, 1883 – 1906], concerning the pot which it was believed Miss [Sarah] Losh [of Woodside, Brisco] acquired in a curiosity shop , an engraving of which was thought might be in the library of the Society [of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne] ; also concerning the choice to be made of the next volume in CWAAS’s Extra Series; and seeking his views on an enclosed paper and what ‘the heart stone’ is. [The Revd Arthur G Loftie’s paper, ‘Explorations at Calder Abbey’, which refers to a heart stone, was published in Trans. ,O.S., vol. VI, 1883].
