ContextThe Club was founded at "a Meeting of Breeders and Admirers of "the Dandie Dinmont" or "Pepper and Mustard" Terrier, at the Fleece Hotel, Selkirk, on 17 Nov. 1875, to promote the breeding of pure thoroughbred stock. Its "standard" of the breed was subsequently drawn up in the Red Lion Hotel, Botchergate, Carlisle. The Club holds an annual show in Carlisle.
