ContextFormed in June 1969, the aim of the association was to "improve amenities of [the] village and promote community interest with the help of Drigg and Irton Parish Councils and Millom Rural District Council". Issues addressed by the association included providing a layby at the new bridge, effluent from Hill Farm, a speed limit for the village, the telephone kiosk, sewerage, and footpaths. The association was wound up in 1976 by which time two people from the village had seats on the Parish Council. A Corvette water heater and the remainding money were donated to the Holmrook Reading Room.
