TitleArticles of agreement for improvements to be made to Belle Isle, Windermere, within 10 years
Descriptionbetween John Christian, Workington, and Thomas White, Ritford, Nottinghamshire. Thomas White to 1) keep up the banks of Belle Isle and two other islands in good repair against floods, tend and replenish plantations of trees on the islands, plant flowers and plants in the appropriate places and mow and tend areas inclosed for grass not intended for sheep pasture. 2) John Christian to pay Thomas White £1000 over the ten years by equal payments half yearly, he to also prepare the lawns for White for sowing with grass seed to certain specifications therein and also to provide White with a house, grass carts, wheelbarrows, a horse, an engine for watering, also to provide a certain fence and hedge and provide White with a flat-bottomed boat for cutting the reeds.
